Menaud takes on the traditional French Génépi. A spirit produced by macerating artemisia genipi sustainably harvested from the peaks of nearby mountains. An herbaceous accent that balances well with the fruit and flowers added before the boiling point is reached. To be enjoyed ice cold or on your travels up to the summit.
Wormwood genepy is an aromatic plant from the artemisia genus of plants which also includes absinthe. During its yearly bloom, it can sometimes be spotted growing among rocks near hiking trails. But because it is so rare, it is best to leave its harvest to experienced pickers. Menaud produces only 800 bottles a year to ensure the sustainability of the plant in Quebec.
Menaud is a pioneering distillery and brewery in Charlevoix, Quebec, founded by five friends who celebrate their region's terroir by creating "grain-to-bottle" spirits using locally sourced ingredients like wheat, rye, and wild botanicals. They are inspired by nature, craftsmanship, and environmental conservation. Named after a famous local novel, Menaud focuses on artisanal production, unique flavors reflecting the northern landscape (salty, floral, woodsy), innovative dark glass bottles inspired by the St. Lawrence River, and strong community ties with local farmers.
