Touriga Franca, Syrah, Trincadeira, and Alicante Bouschet

Alentejano, Portugal

Fully estate-grown multilayered blend that expresses the freshness and elegance of a new Alentejo the result of our dedication to regenerative organic farming, respectful pruning, drastically reducing irrigation and using less intervention in the cellar. Perfumed aromatics of black cherry, dried rose petals, savory spices and herbal complexity lead to a juicy and vibrant palate held by an elegant tannin frame.

Soils of clay over limestone, clay over granite and sandy pebbles of volcanic origin. A very good, balanced vintage in 2021 with generous winter and spring rainfall (555mm) as well as mild spring and summer temperatures. Harvests are done by hand at night. The wine is fermented spontaneously with 30% whole cluster and 2 weeks maceration with gentle extraction. The wine ages in old French oak for 12 months before blending and spending an additional 12 months in stainless steel. Bottled unfiltered and unfined. VEGAN.

In 2019, the dynamic Anna Jorgensen took over the winery from her parents (Carrie and Hans) and began a dramatic overhaul of the estate and the wines.  Environmental sustainability and low-intervention, terroir-driven wines are now her primary focus.  This has meant moving the viticultural practices over to ecological and regenerative agriculture practices.  She has also begun to incorporate aspects of biodynamics as well. To achieve this, she has taken a “less-is-more” approach and dramatically reduced the number of hectares under vine.  Her parents had farmed 240 hectares and now she is under 100.
