The Blanc de Blancs is made exclusively from “Les Monts Ferrés”, a vineyard located in the village of Voipreux, on the very limits of the Côte des Blancs between Vertus and Mesnil-sur-Oger. This is a single 0.2 hectare plot of old-vine Chardonnay planted in 1952. The clay soils give this wine its power and style, so Lahaye has truly achieved his goal of a pure terroir wine. It is broad yet with pure fruit delineation. The wine is fermented and aged in oak barrels, with malolactic fermentation. A blend of vintages with 12 & 24 months aging. NO ADDED SULFUR, VEGAN.
The Lahaye family has been making Champagnes in and around the Grand Cru village of Bouzy in Montagne de Reims since the 1930's. Benoit took control of domaine in 1993 and began producing wine under his own label in 1996. From the start he has been interested in making wine from more natural methods, eliminating of synthetic herbicides, converting to organic and biodynamic farming. The estate's total production is limited to fewer than 40,000 bottles per year. The domaine today consists of 4.8 hectares mostly in Bouzy.
