53% grenache, 45% syrah and 2% tempranillo all from Columbia Valley. The blend changes each year to reflect the vintage: the 2020 is led by grenache, with fruit from 5 different vineyards. It expresses the somewhat cool vintage, which brought structure ; while the wine can be enjoyed now, it will continue to develop over the next several years.
It is luscious and textured with notes of cherry liqueur, framboise, marjoram, and black tea. 13.8% alcohol. 255 cases produced.
In 2014, Matt and Kelly Austin left their careers as an attorney and fashion designer in California for a new life in the Pacific Northwest. After Matt returned to school to study enology and spent time working with several Washington wineries, they stumbled upon a small vineyard on the Southside of Walla Walla. Planted with uncommon varieties, these 5 acres became Grosgrain Vineyards, a wine company dedicated to championing underdog grapes, sparkling wines, restrained reds and sustainable farming practices.
