Usonia, West! West!! West!!! 2024

We love a sparkling red wine! "A freezing event in the Finger Lakes in May 2023 caused us to experiment with more varieties. When our friends called and said they had hybrids to sell, we said yes. Hand disgorged, around 30ppm added SO2. Fun fact: "crackling wine" is a TTB recognized category of sparkling wine." The name of the wine is inspired by the wines of Montefiascone in northern Lazio, IT. VEGAN.

Usonia was established by Alex Perez and Julia Alverez-Perez in 2020 to express a philosophy of Finger Lakes wine beyond the endless parades of rieslings and Adirondack chairs that define their region. The two started as sommeliers in the Bay Area, then went to work in Adelaide Hills and Burgenland, before settling in Ovid, NY. Frank Lloyd Wright created the term "Usonia" to refer to his vision of a fully democratic American landscape. Usonia prefers to create single vineyard/single grape bottlings when possible. They have recently planted their home vineyard, New Suns, which is an 8.5 acre plot surrounded by forest.
