From the importer -

"For me, this is Coutelou's signature wine.  It's deep and rich, with tons of fruit, velvety tannins and a surprising freshness."

Mas Coutelou is located in the Languedoc (Puimisson)... a 15 min. drive to the Mediterranean sea and has the Cévènnes mountains as a backdropThe domaine has a mosaic of soils and subsoils. The majority are clay-limestone with more or less clay, some veins of villafranchien gravel, marl and beyond.

The winemaker, Jeff Coutelou, is the 4th generation to farm these lands which have been certified organic by Nature & Progres since 1987.  More recently he has planted 7 hectares of olive trees, various bushes and wild flowers to bring more biodiversity to his land. These plants create a buffer zones which form a barrier to run off waters, erosion and water pollution from neighboring parcels, creates a habitat for animals which reduces the need for chemical treatments, and are beautiful to look at :)

Jeff has 13 hectares of vines and has been making wine with indigenous yeasts since the late 90s and stopped adding sulfur to the wine in 2012.
