Little Frances - Merlot Sierra Foothills 2018
California, United States
From the importer -
Merlot may have had a bad rap in recent years, but don’t let that deter you from this concentrated and vibrant rendition. Grown at 2000ft elevation in (certified organic) shallow soil over impenetrable rock. These demure vines provided small clusters and tiny berries bursting with flavor. Red raspberry, sweet blueberry and cranberry acidity keep this deep purple wine salivatingly fresh. Fine tannins provide a taught and nervy structure through the wine. This wine simultaneously offers a pretty delicacy and audacious power.
Erin Pooley was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. Before relocating to California she graduated from Charles Sturt University with a degree in Applied Wine Science. Erin has been making wine worldwide since 2007.
Enamored with the nuance and intrigue of white wine with bottle age, Erin started her wine company in 2012 with Semillon from the Luchsinger Vineyard in Lake County, California.
From the outset, Erin has subscribed to the philosophy of aging Semillon before release. These dry white wines develop a savoury complexity and depth fascinating to experience over years of cellaring.
